The location was beautiful and quiet. The staff was warm and helpful. The rondavel itself was very clean and comfortable. The self-catering option looked adequate, although we chose to have dinner at the adjacent treetop lodge. The dinner was a little pricey and wasn't gourmet, but it was very pleasant, multi-course, and portions were fairly large. The onsite game drive was a nice primer for those unfamiliar with viewing game (us), but for those accustomed to seeing impala, zebra, and wildebeest, it might be a little underwhelming (for the price). For us, it was a great way to learn from the guide about some of the basics of African wildlife. We were also a little travel weary, so the onsite drive was a pleasant experience with no hassle.
There was nothing to complain about. It was great.
Had everything we needed, aircon worked very well and bed was big and very comfy.
The water pressure was very poor. We also found a small tick in our bed.
We stayed at ‘Safari Lodge’ as opposed to Treetops. Mainly because we’d rather self~cater. The rooms are bright, well appointed and clean. The beds are comfortable with nice linen. The lodge is perfectly placed to explore the close by Game Park (10 minute drive) or the stunning coastal region of St.Lucia & Cape Vidal. Stunning pool, beautiful grounds that are full of calm game, which meander between the rooms on a regular basis. Would highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to use again.
This place exceeded my expectations in every respect. The lodge is part of the Ubizane Wildlife Reserve which, be in no doubt is a proper game reserve. It may not have Elephant and Lions but the thrill of opening the curtains in the morning to see, Zebra, Impala and Kudu just outside is amazing. The reserve is also home to Warthogs, Wildebeest and Giraffe etc, all in good numbers. You can self cater or go to the nice restaurant which overlooked a pond with crocodiles and a very hardworking colony of weaver birds. Food was excellent and the waiting staff attentive. The location is also ideally situated to visit the superb Hluhluwe – Imfolozi Game reserve where Rhinoceros are the stars. The thatched chalets are lovely, comfortable and clean. The staff were superb and very friendly (special mention to the guys on the security gate who brought a smile to our faces every time we went in or out). My wife had broken her ankle a couple of days before (although she didn’t know it when we arrived) and the staff couldn’t do enough to help and support us throughout our stay). I certainly recommend Zululand Safari Lodge, I loved the place.
Absolutely nothing. It was fantastic.
