Desventajas: "I wasn't allowed to reserve a seat - apparently they don't allow Kayak customers to reserve seats now. I was forced into a middle seat and was uncomfortable and dehydrated the majority of the trip. Nice girl at baggage check said she'd ask a manager to move me, and to let them know at the gate, but the people at the gate said no. I felt discriminated against because I didn't book through them and/or I'm not Japanese. They historically love to put mushrooms in their food, like a fetish. This left me with one choice for the entree - some version of oyakodon - eggs and chicken. In my box there were two enormous chunks of fat/skin and another unidentifiable part of the chicken, and about the amount of edible chicken as 1 1/2 nuggets from Chick-Fil-A. There was more lotus root than chicken, so basically I had a box of rice and scrambled eggs with garnish. For the second meal, it was the Yoshinoya gyudon - a small serving of thinly sliced beef with rice. If I bought this fresh at a Yoshinoya restaurant, it would cost about $3. It's the rough equivalent of serving you a McDouble - cheap and filling and a coin toss if you get stomach pains. I lost that coin toss. Unless there is a big fare difference or I find out that their reserved seat policies are changed, I will choose ANA or another carrier. I used to enjoy JAL, but I cannot abide by idiotic decisions that seemed designed to punish people for using 3rd-party booking sites or who are not Japanese."

The plane was completely full, and my husband and I had to sit in separate rows - I was never able to switch the seats, even though I called several times and tried at the airport as well. Entertainment selection not as good as the American flight out. The JAL website (English version at least) is not very easy to use."

The seats were standard airline economy seats, roomy enough and with enough legroom for my sub-6-foot frame, but not the most comfortable."

Desventajas: "We were supposed to fly back to Los Angeles from Tokyo on Wednesday, August 24th. We got to Tokyo Narita a little later than planned due to the Narita Express train being delayed. I had received emails that our flight had changed gates, and was then delayed, but when my sister and I went to check into our flight, we were told we were unable to board because it was too late. I thought it was absurd because the flight had not even started boarding, and I had gotten an email saying it was delayed. We tried to reason with them, but they would not let us on the flight. It was imperative that we got back to Los Angeles on Wednesday, but all our plans were ruined due to them bumping us off the flight. My sister had a connecting flight to Boston, which she then had to reschedule and was charged for. We were stuck another night in Tokyo, where we had to spend money on a hotel. The Singapore Airlines attendants eventually informed us that we could get on a flight the next day. This delayed us by 24 hours, which was highly inconvenient. It was also especially unnecessary since due to the flight being delayed, we would have absolutely been able to make it. I do not appreciate being bumped off of a flight due to airlines wanting to make more money, especially being stuck overseas. Its not like it was a domestic flight where we could just hop on another one in the next few hours, this totally derailed all of our plans. I do not appreciate the inflexibility of the Singapore Airlines agents, and this is not an experience that makes me want to recommend flying with Singapore Airlines. I appreciate that they did not charge us, however it was a major inconvenience that could have simply been avoided by better customer service and understanding."

We had a seat change request at the gate which was resolved by the gate agent who was amazing."

Desventajas: "Just had a hard time finding flight attendants. Every time I went to the back of the plane, half a dozen of them were sitting around and chatting it up. Felt guilty for asking for water. Not the service that I expected from Qatar Airways. All 4 flights were a struggle to get proper service."

Ventajas: "I liked that the flight was not full and I was able to use the entire row of seats and lie down as straight as possible to get some sleep. The crew was very friendly and allowed us to sleep most of the flight --- I guess they figured that most of the travelers prefer to just sleep and not be disturbed during a 15-hour flight. There was a good selection of movies and shows to watch to pass the time. I liked that there was time to go on the city tour of Doha and that there is a counter at the airport for the city tour."
Desventajas: "My flight started in Kathmandu and the layover for the connecting flight from Doha to LAX was 12 hours. I hope Qatar can come up with a schedule that will reduce the layover down to less hours while still giving passengers time to go on the city tour, if they want to."

The flight crew were friendly and polite, the complimentary meal in coach was a pleasant surprise, and the A330-2 was smartly designed for relative comfort and accessibility."
Desventajas: "Would be great if there were SOME free television offerings, like Southwest Airlines does. I understand paying for the movies (although if you really wanted to stand out above the competition you could offer a select movie for free like in the old days), however the option to watch some satellite tv channels at no cost would be great. Also the nearest bathroom was out of order and that was a bit disappointing."

I hope they keep that because when the prices are the same, I choose Hawaiian for the meal.. sounds silly but i like the meal so I don't have to worry about getting to the airport early enough to buy my own food before boarding."

Then, when we got back they told us we were going to be flying over to Honolulu and picking up the new flight crew, I PAID FOR A NON STOP TICKET! NOT ONLY DID WE FLY TO HONALULU, THEY MAKE ALL OF US GET OFF THE PLANE AGAIN AND GET ON AGAIN AFTER 1-1.5 HOURS. I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HOME AT 9:50PM ON SATURDAY NIGHT, INSTRAD LANDED AT LAX ON SUNDAY AT 7AM. NO ONE WANTS TO TALK REFUND, IT WAS A MESSY SITUATION - SEVERAL CUSTOMERS WHERE ONT HE PHONE WITH BOTH HAWAIIN AIRLINES AND PRICELINE, KAYAK TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON."

Ventajas: "Airbus aircraft was in nice condition. Cabin was clean and relatively quiet, aircraft design isolated in-flight wind and engine noises. Takeoff and landing was smooth. Piloting crew was professional. Most of the flight attendants were very hospitable."
Desventajas: "One flight attendant was consistently rude and grumpy. She is definitely in the wrong end of the business. Flight was only half-full and I feel flight crew should have been more attentive. It was an afternoon flight, and no was was expecting to sleep. I had to get out of my seat to ask for coffee and water refills more than once. Hey, flying nowadays requires you stay in your seat as much a possible, and to that end the attendants should help, not continue to do as little as possible and the bare minimum."

Ventajas: "Had a late departure from Honolulu because of an equipment repair, but the flight itself was fairly smooth and we were were grateful to have a bit of extra room on the plane because several nearby seats were not occupied. Luggage was delivered perfectly on-time upon arrival at LAX - thank you! Really appreciated the excellent customer service offered by Hawaiian Air prior to this trip, when one of the flights had to be rescheduled because of illness. Representatives were efficient, polite, and very understanding - Kudos to this carrier!"
Desventajas: "The touch-screen "display" was not so convenient to operate and seemed a bit archaic in style. Our outbound flight had been filled to capacity and was very unpleasant re long lines for the restrooms - but this return-segment of the trip was not crowded at all and presented a wonderful contrast."
