Ventajas: "The Airbus 330 is an improvement over the Boeing 737 that took me to Europe (via Milan) on this trip. Unlike that flight, this plane is equipped with an updated on demand entertainment system. I attribute the upgraded airplane to the fact that this was a direct flight from HEL to JFK. Still no wifi though... Their magazine says it's coming. Upgrading to Economy Comfort is worth the fee especially if you get a bulkhead seat. Otherwise you are still pretty crammed in with maybe 6" more leg room. But the bulkhead seats are set well back from the wall to give my long legs plenty of room to stretch and get in and out of my seat. My friends in Economy looked miserable :( The chili con carne with rice was an improvement over other airline meals but still room for improvement - mostly in presentation I guess. Lingonberry 'salad' though a bit sour for me, was a nice Finnish dish to sample. Like the cheese and crackers. Departed and arrived on time. Liked the flight tracking that showed you very detailed what you were passing over and even gave us a bit of info and photos about highlights of each region flown over. Nice touch."
Desventajas: "This plane was such an improvement over the "bucket" that flew me to Europe that it has restored my faith in Finnair as a valid carrier for my yearly trip to Europe - like I said, probably because it is a direct flight to New York rather than connecting to another European (not Scandanavian) city like Milan. I would probably not use Finnair to access other parts of Europe for this reason. (On the departure end, the regional Finnair flight from Milan to Helsinki was also sub-standard.) I do think the check-in procedure is still cumbersome - self check in with bag check, though started at kiosks, still results in a long line just to hand off your bag to a counter agent. A few more agents would likely solve that problem... But it was better than going the other way - JFK was a nightmare! Helsinki only slightly better."

Ventajas: "Food was provided when the flight was delayed for 2 1/2 hours. I also really liked the text update from kayak about the delay. The airline did not keep me updated but kayak did."
Desventajas: "The delay when it was already a 6 hour flight. I also was not able to reserve a seat because I had booked through kayak and not with the airline. Finally of the most irritating of all annoyance was that there was no movie. This was an international flight and there was no entertainment. I will never fly American Airlines again."

Ventajas: "Everything about this flight was enjoyable. The Finnair crew took all of the potential pain out of an intercontinental flight. We will definitely be flying with them again."

Ventajas: "Not bad as cross-ocean flights go, but cramped. The seats (and the available room per person) are what would be considered normal nowadays, but I remember flying thirty years ago. The crew was very pleasant and snacks were served (and appreciated), but didn't make up for the cramped conditions."

Arriving at the airport to check in, I saw options to select seats which made me upset even though there was nothing next to each other but way more options than online."

Ventajas: "The meeting I was attending in NY got postponed so I lost the full 1/2 return ticket. Nothing I could do, all at once all kinds of small text appear in big and over 400 $ was lost. This is the last time I book with Kayak. Better pay a bit more directly with the airline but do not have a deal like the Kayak deal. So please remove from all your sites. Thank you VV"

It was left behind in Paris on our way to Casablanca causing us to waste a day in Casablanca traveling back to the airport the grab the bag the next day. And to add injury to insult her bag was left behind in JFK during our transfer for our flight to Seattle. No big deal right, Delta will deliver the bag to our house the next day, wrong, we were told we have to go to the airport ourselves to get the bag."

Ventajas: "I've never been on a flight with such narrow seat and thin cushion. There was no entertainment offered for the almost 4 hour flight. There was no means of charging any electronic gears. The airplane seems to be 30 years behind time. Crew was unfriendly and smiling faces are not part of the uniform."

Ventajas: "SFO - CDG (Air France) was a great journey in all respects. But the one major reason for that was, the middle seat was empty. I was so fresh after the journey, would definitely recommend this flight to anyone."
Desventajas: "The flight was delayed by atleast 45 mins and therefore had to rush at the CDG airport to catch the next flight."

Since I only had 1 hour and 5 minutes to begin with to catch my connecting flight, this forced me and several other passengers to do a mad sprint through Kevlavik Airport. We made it to the gate drenched in sweat and gasping for air - not a pleasant experience. There was also no time to use the airport restrooms or refill my water bottle. The cabin crew on the first flight completely ignored the fact that we were this late - there were no announcements about flight connections, or even an update as to that we were running behind at all. This should have been handled very differently. (Also, general pet peeve: They give you no food whatsoever, even for transatlantic flights, and they do not make you aware of this prior to being on the airplane. If you want to eat, you have to purchase their overpriced airplane food from the menu.)"

Desventajas: "I wasn't able to contact Icelandair through their costumer services, calling was basically impossible. Since I booked my flights through KAYAK, I couldn't purchase baggage on Icelandair's website and turned out could only do that at the check-in counter which I had to pay more for an additional checked baggage. It was very unreasonable."

Desventajas: "You had to go through their customs to change plans. Then you had to board a bus to get carried over to your connecting plane. There was not enough time allowed between flights to do that. They did not have enough bathrooms for all the flights coming in at the Iceland airport. Iceland Air is basically a travel agency in an airplane for Iceland. A lot of pushing by the company to stop in Iceland for a few days and buy Iceland products. It was a lot of hassle to cross the Atlantic on Iceland Air, and I will try not to use them again."

Ventajas: "I liked the price of the trip. I only had one issue, and that was not knowing that I had to pay for the luggage. I had a backpack with me and I also had a 21 pound suitcase. More in new work I was told that I had to pay $95. But that was my fault because I did not do the reading properly."

Desventajas: "Again, there was no jet bridge to board the plane in Reykjavik. When we arrived in New York, it took 1.5 hours for our bags to arrive on the baggage carousel. That is an absurd amount of time to wait for your bags, especially when the crew's bags were unloaded from the plane within 30 minutes of landing."

Ventajas: "The inflight entertainment was really nice and enjoyed the Iceland layover information. Crew were professional and attentive."
Desventajas: "Felt like a budget airline, so don't expect any free snacks or the ability to carry on large backpacks that you normally could on other airlines."

Ventajas: "We got the emergency exit row so we had lots of room on one leg of our trip. The newer planes were nice, clean and updated. The staff was friendly. Entertainment was nice to have! The price was right! Boarding and take off was quick and efficient!"
Desventajas: "We had an older plane on the way back and the Entertainment wasn't as great. I didn't like that we didn't have complimentary drinks like other international flights, but that's the con of a cheaper flight. Our flight was delayed each way, but even with the hour layover we still made it."

Desventajas: "KEF airport is not well managed - boarding areas have few seats, and process is cumbersome; flights leaving near same time are all boarding from same area. Airport amenities- food, shops are very nice. Also, our flight was delayed (it happens) but caused us to miss our next flight. No there was a snafu with one of our bags not arriving/being on a different flight. We recovered it, but we're not compensated for delay/missing a flight."

Desventajas: "The inefficiency at that airport puts a third world airport to shame. Airport too small, passport control is a brutal scrum. No seats anywhere and all connecting flights are delayed! There aren't enough signs to help to get to your gate, very few bathrooms. The food is terrible and obscenely expensive! Never again for us!"

Desventajas: "The terminal in Reykjavik was dangerously crowded at the "D" gate coming back. They charged me for food and a glass of wine on the return trip but not on the trip over. ???? The flight back was 1 1/2 hours late."
