Baggage delivery at JFK took forever."

Ventajas: "The flight crew was phenomenal, especially Daniella. Somehow we wound up with seats right next to the bathroom door, which would have been a pretty uncomfortable situation for a variety of reasons, but the flight wasn't full, and she helped us find a suitable place to sit. Also, my wife and I usually take our tea with honey vs. milk and sugar. Even though honey is usually one of the options for tea, she found a way to accommodate our request. The lunch meals were the best I can remember in a long time on an airline flight. They might have been the best I've ever had. The chicken curry was authentic, flavorful and spicy. Frankly my outbound flight had problems. My luggage got damaged. The transfer experience in Manchester left a LOT to be desired. I wasn't planning to use Virgin Atlantic again, but this flight crew (Daniella especially) redeemed Virgin Atlantic. They were attentive, pleasant, diligent."
Desventajas: "Only thing I didn't like about this flight was the boarding area. Once you get into that the area, you don't really have access to appetizing food (only vending machines) or even restrooms. That's one thing that could be improved."

Shortly after take-off, our calm and comfortable more or less empty section of the aircraft was colonised by an extended family of Orthodox Jews in a kind of airborne West Bank situation. They weren’t in our section of the cabin at all to start with, and I don’t know why they were apparently able to get a free upgrade that I had to pay £100 for. We went from being in an almost empty cabin to being basically sat in the middle of an Orthodox Jewish kindergarten. It was awful! They were noisy, messy, were constantly getting in and out of their seats, the back of my seat kept getting kicked, and there was even a baby crawling around the aisle. We were surrounded. I have no idea whether this is characteristic of Orthodox Jewish family life, or just a completely inconsiderate family. They didn’t exactly ruin my flight, but they didn’t make it enjoyable either. I asked to be moved. The cabin crew were great and acknowledged the difficulty of the situation. My wife lost her window seat but at least we still had the legroom and peace and quiet."

My wife did not get the coffee she requested even though it was promised twice. Trash accumulated at our seat making use of the tray awkward. I tried to pre-pay for extra luggage on-line before the flight but the web site would not allow me to do so. We paid $100 per extra bag at check-in."

Desventajas: "I booked together with my wife, yet we were allocated seats apart and were not able to be reassigned together. The leg room was so tight that I could not pick up things off the floor without putting my head in the next persons lap. Though the cabin crew were smiley and friendly, it was hard to get their attention when needed. The PA system is much louder than the entertainment, so announcements were ear bursting. The dinner selections ran out early, so a good proportion did not get their choice."

Ventajas: "Everything went very fast and smooth. I didn't have to queue for the boarding. The Sita were very comfortable, the crew very friendly and halepful and the selection of the movies A+."

Desventajas: "Entertainment systems take up foot/bag space underneath the seats. Was not able to get more than one glass of wine, even though I missed the first beverage service, that is my fault though, but I don't recall it being an issue getting a drink between services. Entertainment systems had contrast issues and it seemed like a lot of people 8 - 10 had issues since they were using iPads instead of the built in monitors. A lot of wear showing on the entertainment systems remotes."

The fact that it was not at the gate when we arrived in Newark surprised even the SAS Gate agents. Had to go to baggage and collect it in oversize baggage. Will not fly SAS again until that policy has changed."

Ventajas: "Everything about the flight was wonderful except baggage claim, in BOTH directions."
Desventajas: "It could have been the perfect trip, but I am not sure why SAS baggage handling is so mediocre. In both the flights from EWR to OSLO and back, every aspect of the trip was super, except for the wait for baggage. In Oslo, I estimate having waited at least a half an hour at the carousel before the bags started showing up, and the same in Newark. We had long cleared Immigration, which normally is not a speedy process, and yet still had to wait at least 20 minutes for the FIRST bag to appear on the carousel. Most annoying, particularly after a relatively long flight, and especially for transfer passengers who needed to recheck their bags to continue to other destinations."

An 8.5 hour flight without entertainment made the experience unpleasant."

Desventajas: "This was a 9 hour flight where if the lights were off, a baby would sleep. Instead, the lights were left on to encourage the purchase of food/drink and airmail knick knacks."

Ventajas: "Temperatures was good not very hot. Has a handicapped bathroom."
Desventajas: "Cabin light was only slightly dimmed during the 8 hrs flight. Then instead of gradually brighten the light. They just flip the switch to full blast. I think they are trying to sell you more duty free than letting their customers rest. Not ok!"

Desventajas: "Something about the seats made it impossible to sleep without being woken up frequently by a painful position (economy class). Obviously no economy class seat will be comfortable to sleep in, but SAS seats seem to be a lot worse than other airlines."

Desventajas: "After losing the bag they had charged me 60 Euros for, it took them over 24 hours to trace, retrieve and deliver the bag. They made no offer to refund the fee, which any reasonable company would have done."

Ventajas: "Connecting flight from Hamburg was late so gate personnel graciously gave me an upgrade."

Ventajas: "Very professional and accommodating staff. Acceptable food. Efficient and on time boarding."
Desventajas: "The seats were comfortable but legroom was too little to get comfortable on such a long flight."

Also I paid for my family of three to be grouped together on flight from Stockholm to Chicago and we were seated in separate aisles so we could not converse together at all. Desventajas: "I was cold and I didn’t have a blanket. They should have at least one blanket per seat available. Most of the people had blankets but some didn’t."

Desventajas: "Providing a small snack would be great. Also the sears are extremely small so when the person in front of you reclines their seat all the way it induces a claustrophobic feeling and really limits your space. I suggest limiting the degree of reclining to not be as deep."

You do have the option of purchasing food but it’s expensive & it wouldn’t feed a preschooler. The crew...honestly they’re just not pleasant to talk to. I put on my call light to ask about purchasing (which means I’m spending money) ear buds & she made me wait another hour & a half. Not one single passenger I spoke to had anything nice to say about Iceland Air."

Soft drinks are given in a 4 or 6 ounce cup, very small."

Desventajas: "You had to go through their customs to change plans. Then you had to board a bus to get carried over to your connecting plane. There was not enough time allowed between flights to do that. They did not have enough bathrooms for all the flights coming in at the Iceland airport. Iceland Air is basically a travel agency in an airplane for Iceland. A lot of pushing by the company to stop in Iceland for a few days and buy Iceland products. It was a lot of hassle to cross the Atlantic on Iceland Air, and I will try not to use them again."

This meant that I missed my train connection nd had to pay an additional $75. I simply won’t take this airline again and flying out of Newark as a Philadelphia resident is not that convenient either."

Ventajas: "Crew was helpful and professional."
Desventajas: "Not enough leg and seat space and I am a small person at 5 ft tall and 105 lbs. I was subjected to an extensive security search which took a great deal of time. Iceland Air did hold the plane for me and were professional in their work."

Desventajas: "Again, there was no jet bridge to board the plane in Reykjavik. When we arrived in New York, it took 1.5 hours for our bags to arrive on the baggage carousel. That is an absurd amount of time to wait for your bags, especially when the crew's bags were unloaded from the plane within 30 minutes of landing."

Ventajas: "The inflight entertainment was really nice and enjoyed the Iceland layover information. Crew were professional and attentive."
Desventajas: "Felt like a budget airline, so don't expect any free snacks or the ability to carry on large backpacks that you normally could on other airlines."

Desventajas: "I didn't like one mass line for all economy tickets when it came to boarding- I prefer airlines that call people to board by group. Less hectic."

Desventajas: "Construction in the Iceland Airport made the transfer practically impossible. Going to Paris and returning home we made our connection by only a few minutes. It was much more stressful that it needed to be. You basically had to just cut in front of the entire queue to get through the passport control in time."

Desventajas: "Boarded 30 mins after scheduled time which details or an explanation was not disclosed, passengers were just left wondering until someone finally asked - turns out cleaning crew was late. Arrived at layover with only 30 mins to spare so of course my luggage did not make it to my final destination."

Desventajas: "We chose our seats 6 months in advance and when it came time to fly all of our four seats become "unassigned" meaning we each had a middle seat and were not seated together. Obviously someone has to have the middle seat but what is the point of allowing a passenger to choose, feel good for the moment when there is no intention of keeping that arrangement? Bait and switch? At least be upfront that there are no assigned seats. Altho somehow others were able to book OUR seats... We will be looking to book with other airlines before choosing IceAir again. Even if we have to pay a bit more. Very disappointing for long international travel when you are under the impression that all is set..."

Desventajas: "The flight was late from Paris, the seats were uncomfortable, the food for purchase offered very few choices. There was very little that I liked about this flight."
